Patient Rights

General Health Law 42-01, Decree No. 351-99

  • Proper Identification: Be correctly identified and addressed by your name.
  • Non-Discriminatory Care: Receive appropriate, timely, socially and culturally acceptable care without any form of discrimination, regardless of financial capacity.
  • Respect and Dignity: Be treated with respect and care in accordance with your human dignity.
  • Knowledge of Care Providers: Know the names of the individuals caring for you and understand their roles.
  • Privacy and Confidentiality: Enjoy privacy and confidentiality during your care, protecting your social and psychological integrity.
  • Feedback Opportunities: Provide complaints or suggestions about the care received to help improve service quality.
  • Confidential Information: Receive information about your condition professionally and confidentially, ensuring your medical history is not disclosed to individuals unrelated to your care.
  • Informed Communication: The assigned physician will inform you and, if desired, your family about the course of your treatment and health issues.
  • Consent Rights: Have the right to consent to or refuse procedures and treatments.
  • Participation in Treatment: When feasible and appropriate, participate in decisions and actions regarding your treatment.
  • Support During Procedures: Request to be accompanied by a person of the same gender or a family member during medical examinations or treatments, especially if performed by a professional of the opposite gender or if you so desire.
  • Second Opinions: Consult with other specialists at your request and expense when seeking alternative opinions, without facing discriminatory actions.
  • Voluntary Discharge: Any citizen has the right to request their voluntary discharge, which must be formally submitted by you or your family through the designated form.
  • Raise any complaints or suggestions you may have regarding the care received that may contribute to improving the quality of the service provided to the appropriate department.
  • Access to Spiritual Support: Have access to spiritual support services.

Patient Responsibilities

  • Adherence to Regulations: Comply with and respect the institution's internal regulations, which will be explained to you or your family upon admission.
  • Accurate Information: Provide accurate and truthful information about your condition and any social and epidemiological aspects (such as your address, family members, and possible risks to healthcare personnel).
  • Treatment Compliance: Follow your treatment plan and attend all scheduled follow-up appointments.
  • Respect for Staff: Show respect towards the organization's staff members.
  • Care for Facilities: Take care of and protect the institution's facilities and belongings.
  • Consideration for Others: Respect and be considerate towards other patients and their companions.
  • Personal Hygiene: Maintain adequate personal hygiene and contribute to keeping the environment clean.
  • Resource Conservation: Care for and conserve the resources provided by the organization for your use.
