Santo Domingo, April 28, 2025 — In celebration of World Day for Safety and Health at Work, themed this year “Revolutionizing Safety and Health: The Role of AI and Digitalization in the Workplace,” Médico Express has been officially certified by the Dominican Ministry of Labor for its compliance with Regulation 522-06. This prestigious recognition further consolidates Médico Express as a national and international leader in creating safe, healthy, and patient-centered environments, aligned with the highest standards of quality, sustainability, and institutional competitiveness.
The Ministry of Labor’s certification is based on the implementation of a comprehensive occupational health and safety program, which includes the creation of a Joint Safety Committee, an updated emergency response plan, brigade training, evacuation route signage, installation of advanced fire protection systems, automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in critical areas, and comprehensive emergency, disaster, and hurricane response protocols.
These initiatives have strengthened the infrastructure, processes, and organizational culture at Médico Express, significantly elevating protection standards for both patients and staff. They also reaffirm Médico Express’ commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“Receiving this new certification reinforces our commitment to excellence, prevention, and sustainability. At Médico Express, we strongly believe that protecting those who care for others is fundamental to transforming healthcare and fostering a true culture of quality and safety,” stated Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso, CEO of Médico Express.
This milestone adds to other major achievements, such as the Global Healthcare Accreditation (GHA) certification—making Médico Express the first healthcare center in the Caribbean to earn this distinction—and the Fitwel certification, distinguishing it as the only healthcare facility in Latin America to meet this international standard. These accomplishments highlight Médico Express’ leadership and validate its comprehensive, innovative, and resilient healthcare model. They also reflect a forward-thinking vision that sees healthcare not only as an essential service but also as a driver of social well-being, employment, and knowledge transfer.
With this latest certification, Médico Express continues to safeguard its staff and ensures that both local and international patients have access to world-class healthcare services within a safe, modern, and compassionate environment, concluded Dr. Cambiaso, who was accompanied by Francesco Fino, Vice President, and Abner Ramos, Director of Human Talent at Médico Express.
